Important Session Dates

Subject: Important Session Dates
Here is the schedule announced last week by the Joint Rules Committee for
the 2010 Virginia General Assembly Session which begins Wednesday, January
13, 2010.
It is important to note, that after the pre-filing deadline, no member of
the House of Delegates may introduce more than 5 bills and no member of the
senate may introduce more than 8 bills.
Monday, December 7, 2009: Requests for drafts of any bill or joint
resolution to be prefiled must be submitted to and received by the Division
of Legislative Services no later than 5:00 p.m.
Friday, December 18, 2009: Governor Tim Kaine presents his budget amendments
to the General Assembly Money Committees.
Thursday, January 7, 2010: Public Hearings on the Budget in Portsmouth,
Harrisonburg, and Blacksburg.
Friday, January 8, 2010: Public Hearing on the Budget in Fairfax.
Monday, January 11, 2010: Public Hearing on the Budget in Richmond.
Wednesday, January 13, 2010: First day of the 2010 General Assembly Session;
Pre-Filed legislation must be submitted prior to 10:00a.m.
Saturday, January 16, 2010: Inauguration of Governor, Lt. Governor, and
Attorney General.
Monday, January 18, 2010: State of the Commonwealth Address.
Friday, January 22, 2010: Last day to file legislation by 5:00 p.m.
Tuesday, February 16, 2010: CROSSOVER; Each house to finish its own
legislation.
Sunday, February 21, 2010: Budget Subcommittee Reports released.
Thursday, March 11. 2010: (TENTATIVE) - Budget Conferee Report Released
Saturday, March 13, 2010: SINE DIE; Last Day of Session
Wednesday, April 21, 2010: VETO Session.
